COACH BROCK

DSA’s Owner, Manager, and Head Coach Stephen Brock played baseball throughout grade school and graduated with athletic scholarship opportunities. Choosing to serve his country post 9/11 instead, Stephen is an eight-time deployed Combat Veteran proficient in the subjects of servant leadership, physical fitness, mental resilience, and empathy. He is a USA certified youth coach and has been working with young athletes since 2015. Coach Brock now sets his motivation toward shaping the future of next generation’s leaders and is passionate about helping them grow.

COACH CURT

Coach Curt Zabel has been coaching kids for 10+ years and is an exemplary model for what living a full life truly means. Curt is a native of the area and has been involved in Harnett County youth recreation throughout his entire life. Adolescent years are a crucial time period for a young athlete to learn that hard work, dedication, and patience are important lessons necessary for success on and off the field. Although never playing at a competitive level, Coach Curt offers critical coaching techniques that enable your athlete to respond appropriately, feel part of the team, and maintain love for the game.

COACH MARCUS

Coach Marcus Smith currently serves as a juvenile court counselor in Cumberland County for at-risk youth in legal trouble. His primary focus is providing counseling and intervention services to families to ensure successful rehabilitation strategies are in place for those requiring assistance. Coach Marcus brings a wealth of knowledge and value to Driven Sports Academy by not only his role in the community but through his many athletic accomplishments over his 20 years of playing baseball. Marcus is a lower Richland MVP, named all-region during adolescence with .240 batting average. Furthermore, Coach Marcus played for Meadowlake, batting a .400 and setting program records with a total of 40 stolen bases for the season. His experience as a collegiate level pitcher and outfielder will provide your athlete with a positive role model and outstanding instruction.

COACH BRI

Coach Brianna Ortiz is currently attending college at Wake Forest on an athletic scholarship focusing on labor and delivery nursing. She has played softball at every level and is experienced in every position on the field to include pitching. Brianna is excited to train with passionate young ladies in the sport and will encourage them to achieve their athletic and personal goals.

COACH OMAR

Coach Omar played baseball at the collegiate level for the University of Purto Rico and in the Double-A division for Liga Superior de Beisbol. Omar has been volunteer coaching for Fayetteville Parks and Recreation sports since 2019 and has been working with young athletes in multiple sports during this time. Coach Omar, having been raised in a very poor area knows what it takes to commit fully to the decisions one makes. Now as an accomplished veteran and father, Omar is dedicated to instilling the attributes of leadership, hard work, and resiliency in your athlete.
